39th AMBASSADOR COMPETITION

12th Junior Ambassador Competition

Saturday, August 11, 2011 – 7:00 p.m. at the Sunderland Town Hall

Theme:  “Through the Farm Gate”

The senior winner will represent the Sunderland Agricultural Society at the Ambassador of the Fairs Competition held at the CNE in August 2011.

The Rules and Regulations are as follows:

1. The Competition is open to any male or female who will be 18 years of age or older by August 15, 2011 or ages 12 or 13 as of January 1, 2011.  They must reside within the boundaries of Brock Township or attend a school in Brock Township.

2. Each contestant will be required to fill out a questionnaire prior to the competition night.  These questionnaires will be made available to the judges.

3. Each contestant must have a $75.00 business or organization sponsorship.  Cheques should be made payable to Sunderland Agricultural Society.

4. Contestants must prepare a bristol board sized collage of themselves, their interests, family and friends.  This must be completed by Aug. 14th to be displayed at the competition and the Fair.

     5.The judges will interview each contestant during the afternoon of the August 15.  The senior contestants will be required to give a 1 ˝   minute speech and the juniors a 1 minute speech during the evening program, topics to be announced.  The contestants will  also be given an impromptu question.

6. Contestants are asked to represent their sponsors and attend both Fair Days, September 13 & 14, 2011.

7. The placing contestants must fulfill obligations outlined by the committee.  Example: Sunderland Santa Claus Parade, Maple Syrup Festival, etc.

8. Contestants applying for the second time, for a competition they have already competed in, will not be accepted until after June 30th in order to provide the opportunity to everyone. Winning ambassadors cannot compete again, runners up may.  These rules do not apply to previous junior competitors applying for the senior competition for the first time. 

9. Contestants will be disqualified immediately if their qualifications are found to be in contravention with any of the competition regulations herein set out and may also be disqualified and be required to withdraw immediately if they fail to observe any of the instructions and regulations which may be set out by the supervising officials of the competition.

Registrations will be accepted starting April 1, 2011. 

A limited number of applicants will be accepted for each competition.
